Wolverine Created Sept 2008

Photobucket

Wolverine with Steel Claws and Interchangeable Hands

I had this idea floating in my head for a while and then I saw a custom Wolverine with removable claws by customizer, Jin Saotome which prompted me to snatch up the next Wolverine figure I saw and perform my own experiment on the man once known as Weapon X!

I popped out the very unactionlike hands Wolvie came equipped with and filled the peg holes in his forearms with Fixit Sculpt. After it cured I glued tiny neodymium magnets into the forearms and also into 2 pair of DCUC fists. Then I drilled holes between the knuckles of 1 pair of the fists and glued in the needles for his extended claws. Actually I tore up 2 right hands and got it correct on the 3rd. Sanded the hands lightly, painted them with Citadel Chaos Black giving them a coat of Micro Flat Sealer between coats of black.

Then I fixed his "X" emblem on his belt - it was rubbed pretty bad and looked rough. I sanded the design off and painted the area black. I did up the design in Photoshop and had a local print shop print it so it would be nice and sharp and then I decopauged it on.

And that's the story. Nice semi-easy mod job.

Thanx for looking and let me know what y'all think!

World War Hulk Created July 2008

Photobucket

This is my fave of the new HML Hulk / FFF series but I felt like he needed a bit of help to bring his details out. And dammit is he detailed! Too detailed probably. A basic repaint, the first of several I've been meaning to do.

I gave him a base of Citadel Foundation Orkhide Shade which is super dark green and them started drybrushing lighter shades of green. I did his brown parts with Citadel Scorched Brown. For his armored arm I gave him a wash of Chaos Black and then a heavy drybrush of Boltgun Metal. Used that on his spikes as well. His tiara is painted with Mithril Silver.

I gave his sword a couple coats of Silver and his axe I gave a wash of Codex Grey and then a drybrush of MM Ghost Grey, heavier along the cutting edge. The green splotch on his axe happened after he was finished of course - he fell off my work bench and I guess cut himself.

Thanx for looking!

DCUC Black Manta - Body
DCUC Classic Aquaman - Head
DCUC Red Tornado - Glove Cuffs
Collar - From the vest of a TNA Wrestler & Fixit
Misc Fodder - Headband and Belt Sash
Sculpted w/ Fixit Sculpt - Headband, Hair, Mustache, Jewels on Gloves, Belt and Jewel Clasp on Belt
SJ Insignia - Printed on Clear MicroScale Water Slide Decal Paper
Weapons - Guns from a 2000 AD Figure (Strontium Dog I think), Sword from a POTC figure, Scabbard from an LOTR figure
Painted with Citadel & Model Masters Paints

The recipe pretty much tells the story there. The hardest part of this Custom for me was the detail painting - especially on the gloves. If I was going to do this again I’d sculpt the yellow surround around the red jewels on his gloves.

Very interested to hear what y’all think!

Catwoman Created June 2008

One of the fastest customs I have made. Cranked this cutie out in 1 day.

DCSH Catwoman - Body, Hands & Legs
DCD Hush Catwoman - Head & Goggles
DCUC Harley Quinn - Arms

Swapped out the DCSH Catwoman head for the Hush one - had to mod the neck a bit to get the Hush CW head to go on and look right. Swapped out the DCSH CW arms with a pair from a DCUC Harley Quinn - had to cut off the pegs on the CW and use small screws to get the HQ arms on correctly. Cut off HQ’s hands just behind the wrists, installed small screws and put on the DCSH CW’s hands.

Then used Citadel Black (my fave black) to paint the red arm black - the Citadel has a soft matte finish that matches the black of the DCSH CW purrrrfectly (couldn’t resist) - and BAM! Sexy Catwoman!

Let me know what y’all think!

Batman (the first of many) Created June 2008

Photobucket

My all time favorite superhero so I wanted to make one for my shelf that incorporated all that I liked about him. I guess you could say this is a Lee-Wagner-Miller look.

DCUC CS Batman - Body
DCSH B&G Batman - Arms, Hands & Legs from the knees down
DCD Secret Identities Batman - Head
DCD Trinity Batman - Cape & Belt
Citadel & Model Masters Paints

I have to give props to fellow customizer; DDA for the idea about the bat symbol - printed out on paper, gone over with black marker and sealed then glued down to chest.

Everything else was pretty standard boil n’ pop, dremel and sand. You do have to dremel the inside of the DCD head to get it to fit well because the DCUC heads have quite a bit of a scoop inside to get them down over the neck.

Let me know what y’all think!

Daredevil Created April 2008

Daredevil > DCUC Style!

I love the new Mattel DCUC bodies! I decided to try making a custom using one and thought I'd start with a somewhat easy project.

Recipe >
Base - DCUC-1 Red Tornado Head & Baton
Holster - ML FO Daredevil
Sculpted DD Emblem, Glove Cuffs, Belt & Buckle, Holster Straps, Tops of Boots and filled Cape Anchor Hole on Back & Sculpted Muscles. Also modded his Baton Holster and sclupted on that.

Also installed magnets in his feet so he could be posed on slanted metal surfaces.

I'm really proud of the DD Emblem. It could be bigger but considering my limited skill set when it comes to sculpting it came out OK.

Had fun doing this one and will do some more Marvel Characters with DCUC bases.
